Press Release:

Barnes and Conti CEO Kim Barnes to Speak on
Constructive Debate at HR West 2019

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Berkeley, CA, January 17, 2019—Barnes & Conti CEO, noted author, and thought leader B. Kim Barnes will be speaking at the HR West Conference on March 13, 2019 in Oakland, California. Her session is entitled, “Uncovering Better Ideas Through Constructive Debate.”

In this session, conference attendees will learn to cultivate constructive debate, in which a diverse group of individuals can express ideas, engage others in building on and improving them, explore ideas deeply, and challenge one another’s positions in a fair and productive way. Kim, author of the best-selling book Exercising Influence: Making Things Happen at Work, at Home, and In Your Community (3rd Edition, Wiley, 2015) is the developer of Barnes & Conti’s highly-regarded Constructive Debate program. Her book on the topic entitled, Building Better Ideas: How Constructive Debate Inspires Courage, Collaboration, and Breakthrough Solutions, is slated for publication in the fall of 2019 by Berrett-Koehler.

Friends of Barnes & Conti may take advantage of a $100 discount off HR West Conference registration when they use promo code PRESENTER19 and register on HR West’s website.

Session description: Great ideas, or the seeds of them, walk out the actual or virtual door of organizations every day between the ears of team members. Worse, ignoring or not asking for feedback can lead to disastrous results – financial or otherwise. This session explores strategies for encouraging constructive debate, which involves the open exchange and exploration of ideas in a way that promotes innovation, high-quality decisions, broad participation, and positive and productive relationships.

The conference, March 11-13, 2019, brings three days of professional development, insightful discussions, networking, and practical tools for attendees to take back to their workplaces. Attendees create their own attendee experience with more than 80 concurrent sessions (most for HR recertification credits) to address specific professional and organizational needs.
