Kim BarnesKim Barnes
President and CEO

Kim Barnes is President and CEO of Barnes & Conti Associates, Inc., of Berkeley, California, an independent learning and organization development firm.

She has had over 30 years of experience in the fields of management, leadership, and organization development. Working in both internal and external roles with organizations, Kim has experience in a broad range of industries including: high technology, research and development, e-commerce, biotechnology, telecommunications, aerospace, finance, distribution, public utilities, health care, manufacturing, insurance, and government.

Kim has been a frequent speaker at national and international professional conferences and meetings; she has also published a number of articles in professional journals in the U.S. and abroad. She is the primary developer of Exercising Influence: Building Relationships and Getting Results, Constructive Negotiation: Building Agreements that Work, The Mastery of Change, Intelligent Risk-Taking, Creating a Culture for Risk and Innovation, C.O.A.C.H. for Peak Performance, The Art of Communication, and The World Class Team Series, all of which are copyrighted programs of Barnes & Conti. She also co-developed the program Managing Innovation, Optimizing the Power of New Ideas along with Dr. David Francis, the Deputy Director of CENTRIM, the University of Brighton’s Centre for Research in Innovation Management. Kim’s work has been translated into Spanish, French, Japanese, Hungarian, Lithuanian, Polish, Danish, Hebrew, Thai, Korean, and Chinese. The second edition of her book, Exercising Influence: A Guide for Making Things Happen at Work, at Home, and in Your Community, was published by Pfeiffer/John Wiley in 2007.

Kim is also a contributor for the book, Profiles in Coaching: The 2004 Handbook of Best Practices in Leadership Coaching, published by Linkage Press. Kim holds a master's degree in Human Development. Her current clients include Cisco, Eli Lilly, CitiGroup, U.S. Department of Energy, the Haas Business School of the University of California, and Medtronic. Kim resides in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Janne Rochlin
Vice President of Program Delivery & Development

Janne Rochlin is Vice President and Chief Learning Officer at Barnes & Conti Associates, Inc., focusing on organizational development, training, and consulting.

She has over 20 years experience in designing, developing, and delivering training in the areas of influence, negotiation, oral and written communication, coaching, team skills, and innovation management. Before her association with Barnes & Conti, Janne was an account manager for a training and consulting company in which she provided training, consulting, and marketing services. Prior to that, she held a position in Management Development and Training at Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company.

Janne has earned certifications in a number of programs focused on career development, communications, front line management, and supervisory skills; she also trains all of Barnes & Conti programs. In addition, Janne manages and conducts the Train-the-Trainer process for both internal and external trainers. She is a qualified practitioner of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, as well as a member of the American Society for Training and Development.

Janne received her degree from Sonoma State University in English with special studies in Management. She served as a teaching assistant in the Management Department, tutoring students in organizational communications and technical writing. Some of her current clients include the MITRE Corporation, St. Paul/Travelers Insurance, Eli Lilly, CitiGroup, Cisco Systems, Kaiser Permanente, Agilent Technologies, Procter & Gamble, Walt Disney Company, and University of Dayton. She resides in Petaluma, California.

Eric Lewis Beckman
Vice President

Eric Beckman is Vice President of Barnes & Conti Associates, Inc., focusing on customer relationship management, training, and learning systems development. Eric has emphasized improving productivity through employee involvement strategies and team process improvements.

He has more than 15 years experience providing individuals and organizations with effective design, implementation, and training in communications, risk management, and manufacturing processes with an emphasis on management, product development, training, sales, and service.

Eric has worked with groups at the University of California to build improved teams of multidisciplinary research collaborations between students and professors. He has been a frequent speaker and presenter with the Northern California Human Resources Association in conflict management, influence skills, and negotiation training. He has worked as an adviser to several non-profit boards in developing strategic operating plans, communications improvement, and team processes.

Eric was Vice President and co-owner of Bright Star Gliders, working in the design, development, and production of light aircraft and NASA prototyping for composite components. He also worked as a flight instructor for light aircraft and hang gliders, and was a chief test pilot for new designs. Eric has also worked in the restaurant and retail industries in various management capacities and is an owner of a café and bookstore.

Eric’s education includes a BS in Information Systems Management from The University of San Francisco. Eric has consulted with individuals and groups at Analog Devices, Applied Materials, Charles Schwab, Cisco Systems, Informix, Intuit, KLA-Tencor, Eli Lilly, HMT Technologies, Pfizer, Silicon Graphics, Sprint, Sun Microsystems, Kaiser Permanente, Citigroup, Medtronic, University of California, Visa, and many others. He lives north of San Francisco in Petaluma, California.

Sam Roberts
Senior Associate & Organizational Consultant

Sam Roberts is a Senior Associate and trainer for many of the programs offered in Barnes & Conti’s palette of leadership curriculum. His primary interests reside in the fields of leadership presence, effective influence and communication, and social innovation. Sam holds a masters degree in Organizational Psychology from Golden Gate University, and is in the process of earning a second masters degree in Integral Theory from John F. Kennedy University.

Sam began his interest in leadership and organization development through his experience helping Yokayo Biofuels (California’s first biodiesel company) begin, and while not exclusive to this sector, he sees Green Business and Technology as having the most to gain from his area of expertise and professional skill application. Sam has worked with Cisco, Eli Lilly, Tyco Electronics, NetApp, Abbott Labs, Cnet, and Medtronic Corporation.

In June, 2010 Sam graduated from Integral Coaching Canada and became a Certified Integral Coach, thus adding executive coaching to his professional offering.
